Sofia Vergara was born into a large Columbian family in 1972. As a child, she studied hard at a bilingual school learning in both English and Spanish. Sofia was also very invovled with singing, dancing, playing instruments, and listening to music. She would also ride horses on her father's farm.
At the young age of 18, Sof`a turn. She was spotted by a photographer who invited her to do some shoots. The results where terrific and modeling offers started coming her way. Although she was three years into her university education in dentistry, Sofia decided to give modeling a try.
One of her first jobs was in a Pepsi commercial which aired nationwide in Columbia. At the age of 20, Sofia moved to Bogot and began working on the runways and on TV.
Her first big break came when she was hired to co-host a show called Fuera de Serie, which sent her to exotic places all over the world. She was on the show for four years, making her a star in Columbia and somewhat known in North America.
Besides a slew of magazine and television appearances, another noteworthy venture of Sofia's is her annual calendar which first came out in 2000.
