Paris Hilton was born in 1981 to Rick and Kathy Hilton, making her the great-granddaughter of Hotel tycoon Conrad Hilton. She and her sister Nicky, born in 1983, stand to inherit the Hilton family fortune - somewhere in the neighbourhood of $300 million.
"Paris the Heiress" grew up in Manhattan where her home address was the glitzy Waldorf-Astoria. After high school, a college education didn't appeal to her; it seems her only aspirations were to be famous. Though her family has often been in the news (her grandfather was the first of Liz Taylor's many ex-husbands), Paris craves the spotlight like no Hilton before her.
She became involved in modelling and had some success in front of the camera due to her tall thin figure and undeniable good looks. She did shows for a few designers and has posed for spreads in national magazines such as GQ, Vanity Fair and FHM, and has also been profiled, along with her sister, in People magazine. Paris has also done a few things for film and TV, including a cameo in "Zoolander" and the FOX reality show, The Simple Life, which is based on Green Acres, and features Paris living on a farm. On top of her burgeoning acting career, Paris has designed a high-end collection of purses for Tokyo label Samantha Thavasa, along with her sister Nicky.
Another way Paris gets herself in the spotlight is through her many relationships. She has been linked to a long list of stars, including Leo DiCaprio, Edward Furlong, Oscar de la Hoya, Jason Shaw, and Sum 41 frontman Derek Whibley.
Where Paris stands out the most is in her notorious life as an avid socialite. She and Nicky make appearances at party after party, often ending up getting bad press for their rowdy, often rude antics. Paris once pushed herself to the front of a bathroom line, demanding access to the mirror for a look at herself. At a strip club in Vegas, she apparently flew into a rage over her guy friend getting too many lap dances in the VIP. When the bouncer's approached her and asked her for ID, she replied "I don't need ID! My grandfather built this town! Don't you guys ever read the newspaper? Can you even read?" On another occassion, Paris was overheard in the bathroom booking last minute reservations on an airplane. The agent said there was nothing available for the next flight except a seat in coach, to which Paris replied "That's no good. I'm a supermodel." Sure, Paris. The list goes on...
Well it seems what goes around comes around. Over the past few weeks, Paris has actually being trying to avoid the media. She recently cancelled an appearance on Letterman - the reason? Her notorious homemade sex tape with ex-boyfriend Rick Solomon. The film is doing it's rounds on the internet and has been seen by millions already. God bless Kazaa, God bless the internet.
