Laetitia Casta was discovered on a beach near Corsica at the age of 15 by an agent from Madison Models, a reputable modeling agency out of Paris. Her father wasn't keen on the idea of his little girl in front of the camera, but finally agreed on her doing some test shoots. The results were very impressive to those who matter.
Offers for modeling jobs quickly ensued. One of the first to capitalize on Laetitia's genuine good looks was Paul Marciano, art director and founder of Guess? Jeans. He signed Laetitia for an ad campaign with Guess? and it brought her international fame, along with a big fan base. Laetitia and her agency were soon overwhelmed with offers from advertisers and fashion magazines.
In 1996, Laetitia began her long lasting relationship with Victoria's Secret. To this day, seven years later, she is still a regular on the pages of the prestigous lingerie catalogue.
In 1997, Laetitia landed yet another huge contract, this time with the infamous Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She was a part of the magazine spread for three consecutive years.
The year following her first appearance in Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone magazine published a nude photo of Laetitia on the cover of their "Hot" issue. It wasn't the first time they'd published a nude celebrity on the cover, but it was their most controversial cover to date. In the same year, 1998, she signed a contract with L'Oreal to become their new spokesperson, following in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Jennifer Aniston.
Guess? and Victoria's Secret weren't the only modeling contracts signed by Laetitia. She became a spokesperson for the cosmetics company L'Oreal in 1998, following in the paths of fellow model Kate Moss and actress Jennifer Aniston.
Throughout here career, Laetitia has also done some work in front of the movie cameras. In 1999 she appeared in the most expensive French film ever made, Astérix and Obélix, co-starring Gerard Depardieu and Oscar winner Roberto Benigni. Laetitia also starred in La Bicyclette Bleu (The Blue Bicycle), a three-part made-for-French TV movie set in World War II France.
Also in 1999, Laetitia was presented with a great honour from her native country. She was chosen to appear as the official fance of France, meaning her face would be engraved on the country's national currency and printed on its stamps for ten years. Laetitia commented on the honour, describing it as "neat".
